The GCSE English course leads to a certificate graded from A*-F from the UK exam board AQA. An unsuccessful candidate will be assigned a 'U' grade. Of course, that will never happen at Nexus!
The course has 2 components: 1 written exam, and several controlled assessments (or CAs) to assess your speaking, reading and writing skills. These are carried out under timed conditions in school time.
A summary of the course assessment can be viewed in the table at the bottom of this page. Click here to see a summary of the specification (pdf).
When you complete controlled assessments, you are allowed to take in a sheet of prepared notes. Click here to download a blank notes sheet. Click here to see an example of a notes sheet filled in.
For examination materials, there is an external site. Click here to access it and email bailey.a@nexus.edu.my if you have any problems viewing the materials.
